Gridiron Legends Fit For Life Program presented by Kelsey Seybold Launches
Program to teach health and wellness to local communities
Houston – Lone Star Sports & Entertainment and the Kelsey-Seybold Clinic today announced the Gridiron Legends Fit for Life Program presented by Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. The mission of the program is to help teach kids the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle while having fun. Gridiron Legends Fit for Life will provide the educational tools necessary to teach students about the importance of fitness and nutrition in a fun and engaging setting. The program launched on August 31 and will feature 15 events throughout the Houston area focused on health and fitness for kids.
The Fit for Life Program will feature visits from some of Texas’ finest and most decorated Gridiron Legends, such as Gerald McNeil, Kenny Houston, Don Trull, and Jackie Sherrill. Legends will interact with youngsters and teach the value of good fitness and nutrition habits, as well as medical issues related to obesity and poor nutrition choices. Participants will have the chance to get autographs and win prizes during each assembly.
“We look forward to the opportunity to work with Kelsey-Seybold on this great program to help inspire today’s youth to lead fit and active lifestyles,” said Callye Dannheim, Director of Lone Star Sports & Entertainment. “Kelsey-Seybold is a leader in this community and we are proud to work with such a great organization on this important initiative.”
“Instilling a foundation of exercise and proper nutrition is critically important for kids today and the Fit for Life Program is a great platform to teach those life-long skills in a fun and interactive way,” said Richard Byrd, Chief of Pediatrics, Kelsey-Seybold Clinic. “According to the Centers for Disease Control almost half of the children in Houston are overweight. Teaching children to adopt these good habits early can help mitigate chronic conditions, like diabetes, as adults.”
