The Harris 100: Part 2

The 2016 NFL Draft is only two weeks away and the excitement continues to build. Last week, I posted my top ten’s at QB, RB and WR in the upcoming Draft.

This week, it’s time for tight ends and offensive linemen. Next week, it’s the defense’s time to shine. But, offense still reigns, well today, anyway. As such, here are the top 10 tight ends in the 2016 Draft:

TE

1. Hunter Henry, Arkansas
Projected: 2nd round

2. Austin Hooper, Stanford
Projected: 2nd round/3rd round

3. Nick Vannett, Ohio State
Projected: 3rd round/4th round

4. Tyler Higbee, Western Kentucky
Projected: 3rd round/4th round

5. Jerell Adams, South Carolina (Joker/Big WR)
Projected: 4th round/5th round

6. Jake McGee, Florida
Projected: 5th round

7. Ben Braunecker, Harvard (H-Back/FB)
Projected: 5th round

8. Stephen Anderson, Cal (Joker/Big WR)
Projected: 5th round

9. Henry Krieger-Coble, Iowa
Projected: 5th round/6th round

10. Thomas Duarte, UCLA (Joker/Big WR)
Projected: 5th round/6th round

Henry played in the AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl as a sophomore and showed what he’s capable of as a next level tight end. In the passing game, Arkansas targeted Henry often and he responding by making nearly every single catch. Vannett could be the best “traditional” in-line y-tight end, tutored by Tom Herman of the Houston Cougars when he was OC at Ohio State.

A couple of sleepers just outside the top ten to watch are UTSA’s David Morgan and SC State’s Temarrick Hemingway. Both are highly athletic and exhibit more receiver qualities than tight end but have the size to play the tight end position at the next level.

The top ten offensive linemen in 2016 are…

OL

1. Laremy Tunsil, Ole Miss (OT)
Projected: 1st round

2. Ronnie Stanley, Notre Dame (OT)
Projected: 1st round

3. Jack Conklin, Michigan State (OT)
Projected: 1st round

4. Jason Spriggs, Indiana (OT)
Projected: Late 1st round/2nd round

5. Taylor Decker, Ohio State (OT)
Projected: 2nd round

6. Cody Whitehair, Kansas State (OG)
Projected: 2nd round

7. Ryan Kelly, Alabama (OC)
Projected: 2nd round

8. Joshua Garnett, Stanford (OG)
Projected: 2nd round

9. Germain Ifedi, Texas A&M (OG/OT)
Projected: 2nd round

10. Nick Martin, Notre Dame (OG/OC)
Projected: 3rd round

Don’t be surprised to see a half dozen tackles taken in the top 40 picks in the draft. A name you don’t see could also make his way into the top two rounds – Texas Tech LT Le’Raven Clark who played in the 2015 AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl v. LSU. Clark has the traits NFL teams crave although he struggled at the Senior Bowl making the transition out of the Texas Tech spread attack.

Tunsil is the real deal and perhaps the best tackle prospect I’ve studied over the past five or six seasons. There’s a lot to like in this offensive line group, inside and outside of my top ten.
